Download Leaked Android 2.2.1 XXJPU ROM for Samsung Galaxy S

Samsung is pushing Android 2.2 Froyo (JP6) update to all of Samsung Galaxy S users since October 15, 2010 but still many users are waiting for OTA update. Some of those who even received the Froyo update are still not satisfied due to slow performance of Android 2.2 on their Galaxy S phones. Folks at XDA-Developers has released a leaked ROM of Android 2.2.1 (XXJPU) for Galaxy S users with improved UI speed, browser speed, GPS and video player.

Here is a changelog of this new leaked build via XDA-Developers:
  • 339MB free RAM because of reduced drivers footprint
  • Improved UI speed
  • Improved browser speed
  • Reportedly improved GPS and video player
  • OTA updates, however it is not known if this version will receive any
  • Ability to change lock screen wallpaper
  • Swype version 2.9.51.13071 with the following languages:
  • US English, UK English, Nederlands, Francais, Deutsch, Italiano, Polski, Portugues, Espaniol, Türkce and more (reportedly Ukrainean or Koreean)
According to the feedback by users at XDA-Developers, this ROM definitely solves the Android 2.2 performance and GPS issues on Galaxy S. There are no official words by Samsung on pushing Android 2.2.1 update to Galaxy S users but it is rumored that Samsung will be rolling out Android 2.2.1 for Galaxy S in the 1st quarter of 2011.
