Root Android 2.2 (Froyo) on Samsung Galaxy S (All Variants) with 1-Click

Folks at XDA-Developers claim that they have developed an app called z4root which can root and unroot Android 2.2 (Froyo) on almost all Android smartphones with 1-click. z4root is capable of rooting Android 2.2 on all variants of Samsung Galaxy S including Vibrant, Epic 4G, Captivate and Fascinate.

How safe is this?

Should be 100% safe - nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries, so if something goes wrong, simply rebooting the device should fix up any and all issues. Let me know if you find any bugs!

How to Root Android 2.2 (Froyo) on Samsung Galaxy S:

  1. Go to Android Market and search for z4root app or use the QR code below to directly install the app on your Galaxy S.
  2. z4root QR Code
  3. Go to Settings->Applications->Development and check the USB debugging mode check-box.
  4. Launch z4root app and tap on the root button.
  5. Thats it, enjoy your fully rooted Android 2.2 (Froyo) on Samsung Galaxy S.
If you want to unroot your device, just follow the above steps again and tap on the Un-root button. It will not void you warranty, but if you plan to install custom recovery then do it at your own risk.
