How To Install Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G

How to install Gingerbread 2.3.3 on the Samsung Epic 4G:

In order to proceed you will need to download the Gingerbread Upgrade package which contains Odin flash tool and that EC 05 firmware file which is nothing but the 2.3.3 update, CWM 0.2.5 update which is the one click root for your phone for your convenience. After downloading the firmware package you will need to unzip. In the process of unzipping there will be a prompted to enter in the password, the password is: “androidadvices.com”.
All well and good by now, please open the Odin after extracting the files, after this go ahead and switch Off your Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G phone and then you will need to to switch ON in the download mode, please make sure that on the PC the Odin program is still opened.
To do this a little bit faster, long press 1 this will let you enter the download mode in the Samsung Epic 4G after the download mode has been established please press the power button after which you will get a yellow triangle.
So when you see the yellow triangle, simply connect the Samsung Epic 4G with the help of USB to the computer while keeping the Odin open on your PC.
By now you will probably see the ID:COM lamp glowing yellow, that’s good news because it means that the drivers have been installed successfully and you are ready to flash the Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G.
Simply proceed by clicking on the PIT option and select the file “victory_8G_100528.pit”, then you will need to click on the PDA file and select the “SPH-D700-ECO-8gb-AAD”.
Another important thing that you need to understand is that apart from these two files don’t select any other files or else the flashing process won’t be successful. This version of firmware can and will only be applied to the 8 GB versions.
Please make sure that you’ve unchecked everything on the left side of the ODIN window except the for the “Auto Reboot” box. After simply selecting those files, you will have to sit back and wait while the process finishes to get over and then after few minutes of time the device will be rebooted.
After rebooting the Samsung Epic 4G will now be on the latest 2.3.3 Gingerbread version.
A piece of advice will be that after the successful installation of the firmware, you will need to install the Modem for your Samsung Epic 4G because that default version is a little bit buggy.
Start by installing the Modem, this meaning that you will need to switch off the Samsung Epic 4G once again and then you will have to get into the download mode. I did mention above that if you need to enter the download mode in the Samsung Epic 4G just long press 1 after this go ahead and press the power button after which you will get a yellow triangle.
As soon as the yellow triangle will appear, please make sure to connect the Samsung Epic 4G to the PC with the help of USB cable and please make sure that the Odin is still open on the PC.
Now, you must to connect your Samsung Epic 4G with your computer, using the USB cable and also the Odin application. When is successfully connected, you will be able to see the a yellow button. Once again you will be able to notice that the ID:COM lamp glows yellow, meaning that all of the required drivers have been installed successfully. This will give you the ability to finally flash the Samsung Epic 4G device now.
Now follow this exact instructions in order to proceed with the whole process of updating:
  1. Select first of all the PIT option and after go ahead and select the “victory_8G_100528.pit” file.
  2. Now click the PDA file to be able to select the “EC03-modem_AndoroidAdvices” file from that unzipped file.
  3. Another important thing is that on the left side of the window you will need to make sure that you unchecked all except the “AUTO REBOOT” option.
  4. The following process shouldn’t be interrupted because if interrupted you will have to do the procedure right from the start, so please after selecting the files and double checking them to be the same, go ahead and just simply click the Start option to start the initiation of the modem installation process.
  5. The Samsung Epic 4G will probably start to reboot now after which there will be a surprise for you, the firmware is updated successfully with the new stable and speedy modem.
  6. By far you did great because if you did exactly as mentioned above you’ll probably are seeing that the latest firmware along with the latest modem is now available for you on your Samsung Epic 4G device.
  7. Another thing worth mentioning is that you can alternatively root your phone by installing the “CWM3.0.2.5 one-click” app that is available in the package in your Samsung Epic 4G phone.
