iPhone Tips That Also Work on the iPad

  1. Tapping the status bar  will take you to back to the top of a page. This tip works not only in Web pages in Safari, but also for emails and other apps.
  2. Add remove icons from the dock When you first take your iPad out of the box, there are only four icons in the bottom dock: Safari, Mail, Photos, and iPod. But the dock can hold up to six icons. To move an app icon into the dock, simply tap and hold it and when it starts to jiggle, drag it to the dock. Pressing the Home button again will confirm the change. You can also remove any icon from the dock by holding it and then dragging it out of the dock.
  3. Pressing the Sleep/Wake button while holding down the Home button will take a screenshot of whatever is on you iPad display.
  4. To copy and paste text, simply tap and hold down on a text, drag the blue end bars until you have your desired text, and then select "Copy." To paste the text you just copied, tap a blank space in an editable window or box and select "Paste."
  5. To save any Web page image while in Safari, simply tap and hold an image until you see the hovering menu. Selecting "Copy" will copy the image into the clipboard and allow you to paste it elsewhere (for example, into an email), while selecting "Save Image" will save it to the Photos app.
  6. By default, double tapping the Home button on the iPad will take you to the Home screen. But you can change this by tapping the "Settings" icon, selecting "General" on the left column, and then "Home" on the right column. You can now set it so that when you double-tap the Home button, it can take you straight to the iPod app, or bring up Search.
